In April 2010, Google started to take load time into account when ranking sites. It wasn’t because you wouldn’t go back to those sites that load slowly, it was because they saw a trend that indicated that you would decrease your usage of Google when Google showed you slow websites. And if you use Google less and start using other search engines instead, Google would make less money from its ads.

Page speed is considered as a Google Ranking Factor. Page Speed means the time taken to load the webpage.

Yes webpage speed is an important criteria for ranking webpages higher in search engines.

Starting in July 2018, Google will finally use mobile page speed as a ranking in their mobile search results. Google today announced a new ranking algorithm designed for mobile search. The company is calling it the “Speed Update,” and it will only impact a small percentage of queries, Google reiterated to us

As of today, page speed is now a ranking factor for mobile searches. Google is calling this the “Speed Update,” and has officially announced that it is now rolling out worldwide
