Cross-site contamination is when a site is negatively affected by neighboring sites within the same server due to poor isolation on the server or account configuration. This phenomenon is one of the greatest contributors to the VPS/Dedicated/Shared hosting secure or insecure debate.

No matter where you go or who you're surrounded by, sometimes it feels like nowhere is safe. But that's what happens when you work and live in close proximity to others. If one person is infected, it's only a matter of time before it spreads. And that's exactly how cross-site contaminations happen

Cross-site contamination is a very serious issue. If you have multiple sites installed on a single hosting plan, only one outdated website can make all your other websites vulnerable. Hackers can do a lot of damage if he gains access to even one of your websites that sit in your shared hosting account.

All of us know how viruses exactly work. They simply spread. The same applies to website malware. Malware duplicates itself. It injects itself in little dark directories that you never care to check.
