How much time Google favors new sites in search results?

I am interested in your experience how much time Google favors new sites in search results, in your opinion?
As long as your site has great content, linked to great sites and active in terms of interaction it will take a month or so for you to rank in Google just not on top 10. You might tempt to buy links to get to Google serps top 10.
