Site map (sitemap) is a file in .xml format that contains links to all pages of the site. It is necessary for search engine crawlers to quickly perform crawling and indexing. The XML-map is located in the root directory of the site and is called sitemap.xml.
In addition to the URLs themselves, the sitemap indicates the date of the last modification of each page. Thanks to this parameter, when crawling sitemap.xml, web spiders decide whether to re-crawl each specific page and resubmit it to the index. This information I gathered from Instagram post that was published by account with about 74 thousands of followers! I think this is because its owner repeatly buy instagram followers to quickly gain their number.
