I think that your choice will depend on the location of the server.
If you are looking to have good one in Europe - check qhoster.com
For USA based solution -  kvchosting.net should work

I think the more various providers you check -  the better. I have tried some time ago those providers: libertyvps.net, qhoster.com.  Both deliver good service quality and I believe they are the ones you can trust.

If you are considering dedicated server  -  check hostingsource.com as well. I believe $29 per month is not a fortune to start dedicated server with.
