Cheap VPS from asvhost.com and DDoS protection service from ddos-guard.net are really nice for me and they seem to be the best in this realm, am I in the right direction?

Use VPS account from time-tested companies - libertyvps.net and rockhoster.com.
Good support, lots of features, signing up is fast and easy. I was really impressed with the response I got from their chat support.

Try considering QHoster.com VPS deals, they also started to offer KVM VPS hosting.
Use coupon "VIPUSERSALE" for %25 OFF on all VPS plans for billing cycles 3, 6, 12, 24, 36 months!
