VPS or Shared Hosting for a New Forum?

Hi, I’m about to launch a new discussion forum and need hosting advice.
Should I start with shared hosting or go straight to a VPS? How much RAM and bandwidth would a small but growing forum require?
Any reviews on Hostingsource.com vps hosting services? I’d love advice from experienced forum owners.

From my experience, forums are more sensitive to database performance than people expect. I run one on hostpro.com, and the NVMe storage made a noticeable difference in page load times.
