From my own experience i see if links are come from niche related forum and good topic that boost ranking but not ordinary link like forum profile back link. Off course link diversification is must.

Nope it doesn't hurt your ranking and traffic as long as the forum is related to your niche. This is a really simple explanation and I hope this make sense.

The links with dofollow do not hurt or object your search traffic and any of the ranking ability. it is always a good way to follow and increase your page authority.
